The Airbus A220 is a family of five-abreast, narrow-body, medium range twin-engine jet airliners that was originally developed by Bombardier Aviation and now produced by Airbus SE, a European multinational aerospace manufacturer headquartered at Blagnac (Toulouse), France.

First launched in 2008, the A220 was originally developed and marketed by Bombardier as the Bombardier CSeries, and entered service in 2016. It competes with the Embraer E-Jet series and the smaller Boeing 737-600/-700/MAX 7 range of aircraft, as well as the Airbus A319.

The CSeries project encountered trouble in 2017 when Boeing initiated a product dumping petition against Bombardier that threatened to kill off the CSeries project. In July 2018 Airbus SE responded by acquiring a 50.01% majority stake in the aircraft program through a joint venture with Bombardier and Investissement Québec known as the Airbus Canada Limited Partnership (ACLP). Airbus then took over effective control of the project and renamed the aircraft as the Airbus A220. In 2020 Airbus increased its stake to 75% after Bombardier withdrew its interest in the partnership and departed the airliner aircraft industry segment to concentrate instead on building business jets.

The Airbus A220 is produced by default as a passenger aircraft and available in two versions:

  1. Airbus A220-100 (formerly Bombardier CS100), which carries 100-130 passengers; and

  2. Airbus A220-300 (formerly Bombardier CS300), a stretch version the carries 120-160 passengers.

A long range business jet variant of the A220-100, known as the Airbus ACJ TwoTwenty, is also available.
