One of three variations of the Boeing 737 Classic aircraft family, the Boeing 737-500 is a narrow-body, medium range twin-engine jet airliner manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, a division of The Boeing Company. Boeing Commercial Airplanes is headquartered in Renton, Washington USA, while the parent company’s head office is located in Arlington, Virginia USA.

The smallest version of the Boeing 737 Classic series, 737-500 was built only in a passenger configuration. Production of the 737-500 began in 1990 and ended in 1999, with 389 units built. The -500 was replaced by the Boeing 737-600, which unlike the -500 subsequently experienced disappointing sales.
