Aircraft / Boeing 737-700
One of four variations of the Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft family, the Boeing 737-700 is a narrow-body, medium range twin-engine jet airliner manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, a division of The Boeing Company. Boeing Commercial Airplanes is headquartered in Renton, Washington USA, while the parent company’s head office is located in Arlington, Virginia USA.
The 737-700 is available primarily in a passenger configuration. However, 5 special factory-built convertible 737-700C aircraft were also produced that can quickly switch between passenger and cargo mode. There is also a Boeing 737-700NG Converted Freighter, an aftermarket P2F (passenger to freight) program that can permanently repurpose a former passenger 737-700 into a dedicated freighter configuration. Additionally, there is a 737-700ER variant with extended range, of which only 2 were built.
Production of the 737-700 ended in 2018. The type was set to be replaced by the new generation Boeing 737 Max 7, which was announced in 2016. Originally set to be introduced in 2022, the 737 Max 7 has since become ensnared by ongoing design, quality control and safety problems that have delayed projected certification until 2025 at the least.
