Aircraft / Cirrus Vision SF50
The Cirrus Vision SF50, also known as the Vision Jet, is a single-engine, V-tail very light jet (VLJ) designed and manufactured by Cirrus Aircraft of Duluth, Minnesota USA, a majority-owned subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).
Launched in 2006, the Vision SF50 is an all-carbon fiber, low-wing, seven-seat cantilever monoplane powered by a single Williams FJ33 turbofan mounted on the top of a V-tailed airframe behind its pressurized aircraft cabin. It is the first certified single-engine civilian jet, and is operated by a single pilot. Access to the cabin is through a clamshell door on the left hand side of the fuselage. In case of emergency, the SF50 features both a first of its kind whole-airframe ballistic parachute known as CAPS (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System), as well as an autoland system. The SF50 has near-STOL capability allowing for the aircraft to takeoff at 2036 feet / 621 m and land at 1628 feet / 496 m.
Initially certified on 28 October 2016 as a personal jet, the type received FAR Part 135 approval for air taxi operations in 2019. Deliveries began in December 2016. To date over 500 SF50s have been built, and since the Vision SF50 has been one of the most-delivered business jets in the USA.
