The Fokker F28 Fellowship is a five-abreast (3+2) twin engine, short range narrowbody regional turboprop airliner designed and produced by Fokker (Dutch: N.V. Koninklijke Nederlandse Vliegtuigenfabriek Fokker; Royal Dutch Aircraft Factory Fokker) in the Netherlands.

Formally announced in 1962, the Fokker F28 followed on the commercial success of the company’s previous civil aircraft project, the Fokker F27 Friendship turboprop airliner. Fokker decided to undertake the development of a new turbojet-powered regional airliner that would build upon the F27. The F28 was larger in size in comparison to the F27, and its maximum seating capacity was increased to 50 to 65 passengers. It entered revenue service in March 1969.

Production of the Fokker F28 Fellowship ended in 1987 with 241 examples built across 4 variants. The F28 was replaced by two newer, larger capacity and more efficient aircraft, the Fokker 70 and Fokker 100.

A 5th version of the F28, the 50-passenger Fairchild 228, was developed for the US market in 1967 by the American company Fairchild Hiller using Fokker F28 sub-assemblies and Rolls-Royce RB.203 Trent engines. However, due to certification delays and performance-related problems, that project was discontinued in 1968 after two prototypes were built.

The Fokker F28 was used worldwide by dozens of airlines and governments across all continents except Antarctica until the type was retired from civilian service in 2019. As of 2024 four F28s were reportedly still active, serving as government-operated aircraft in South America.
