The Honda HA-420 HondaJet is a twin engine, short range light business jet designed and produced the Honda Aircraft Company of Greensboro, North Carolina USA.

The HA-420 HondaJet was a clean sheet design resulting from decades of meticulous research. Work on the project itself began in 1997 and was completed by 1999. The aircraft’s first flight took place on 3 December 2003. After several more years of further development and modifications to the model, the HondaJet achieved its type certification in December 2015.

The HondaJet twinjet features an unusual OTWEM (over-the-wing engine mount) configuration, where its engines are mounted on pylons above the wing and placed at 75% of the wing chord. This approach minimizes wave drag at high speed, and provides a quieter cabin compared to the standard rear-fuselage mounted engines found on most business jets.

Over 250 units of the type have been built to date, and the aircraft has received several prestigious awards and accolades for its design. A second stretched model, the Honda HA-480 Echelon, is currently in development.
