Aircraft / Lockheed Martin LM-100J
The Lockheed Martin LM-100J Hercules is the civilian variant of the prolific Lockheed C-130 Hercules four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft made by the Lockheed Corporation, now known as Lockheed Martin. The LM-100J is a 21st century update to the older Lockheed L-100 civilian transport aircraft, featuring modern avionics. In addition to its capabilities as a freighter, the LM-100J can also be used in aerial refueling, firefighting, aerial spray, air drops, and medevac roles, as well as for humanitarian, arctic and austere location support.
Production of the original L-100 variant ran from 1965 to 1992 with 114 aircraft delivered. An updated variant of the model, the LM-100J, completed its first flight in Marietta, Georgia on 25 May 2017, and started production in 2019. The L-100 and LM-100J aircraft can be visually distinguished from its C-130 and C-130J military counterparts by the absence of side and forward windows underneath the main windshield, which are necessary to assist in executing paratrooper and munitions drops but would not have a civilian function.
